CWMAVON 5 v TAIBACH 41

CWMAVON 5 POINTS, TAIBACH 41 POINTS.

DIV. 2 WEST CENTRAL.

It was a second bonus point win of the season for Taibach in their Derby fixture away to Cwmavon as they won 5-41, crossing for six tries in the process. It was Cwmavon who got off to the better start, spending the first quarter in the visitors half. Taibach were dominant in the scrums, but failed to capitalise, and Cwmavon were rewarded on the twentieth minute when a Taibach attack was made from their half and reached the home sides twenty two, but the ball was stolen in the tackle by Liam Gadd who sprinted away to score a try. On the half hour, Taibach were awarded a five metre scrum and drove it over the try line, allowing scrum half Kyle Jenkins to touchdown and level the score at                                                     5-5.

Early in the second half, Mike McSweeney kicked a penalty for Taibach and a second try quickly followed when the ball was won at a lineout, and after several drives, hooker Ryan Curtis emerged as a try scorer for Taibach, which Aaron Jones converted. A third followed when McSweeney chipped over the defense on the twenty two, and Aaron Jones gathered to score the try which he also converted. Minutes later came a fourth try which began in the Tigers half with several players continuing the move, and the ball reached flying wing Nathan Waters who sprinted away to cross for the try, with Aaron Jones converting. On the half hour, Taibach took play to the Cwmavon twenty two and then just short of the line but the pack set up a drive and flanker Myke Kelly  touched down to score the try. With play in the final minutes, Aaron Jones made a break, and Alex Holland took a pass and sprinted away to score the sixth try of the game and a victory of 5-41 points.
