U15s Royal Wootton Bassett Home 03/04/16

It's always great to play touring sides and this fixture didn't disappoint.

Royal Wootton Bassett RFC were on tour in a little place called none other than Goytre and by all accounts had been having a ball, if the sore heads on Sunday morning were anything to go by then by damned they had been enjoying themselves.

The game started off in a frenzy and by the thirteenth minute mark, we were 14-0 to the good with excellent tries from Scott & Jamie, both converted by Cap'n Joe.  This was quickly followed before the twenty minute mark with a try from Callum M for a 19-0 lead without the extras, which weren't delivered on this occasion.  The rest of the first half tightened up, with neither side delivering any more points despite play see-sawing from end to end in a typical touring type encounter.  Half time score 19-0 to Taibach and everyone enjoying the occasion.

The second period continued at pace much in the manner the first half did, with Taibach snaffling up an opportunity for the always elusive Taylor to break through a couple of tired tackles to touch down out wide (un-converted), before RWB, who were now warming up nicely, opened their account for the day with a converted effort and a score of 24-7 with only seven minutes on the clock in the second half.  This however seemed to light the fire in the dragon's belly and two minutes later, Scott added his second for the day and sixth for the season, with Joe converting for a 31-7 score with nine minutes on the second half clock. Steady progress continued for both sides, with Raj adding to his season's tally on the thirteenth minute (unconverted), RWB adding their second converted try to the scoreboard in the twentieth minute and Taibach 'guest' Rhys H nipping in for a score in the twenty-second minute, unconverted for a score of 41-14 with eight minutes to go.  The final flurries of the game were in the away team's half and the game was neatly closed off with a great try for Rhys T, converted by Joe in the final minute of normal time.

Great game against a good bunch of lads and a team that we hope to visit next season in a return fixture down their neck of the woods.
